Strategy
ArchiAfrika aims to achieve the above target through a multiple approach:
By collecting data on African Architecture: by designing or adopting (from Docomomo, Icomos, Unesco, etc.) methodologies as the basis for a database; by producing databases on accessible sources (literature, internet etc.) and by making field studies through universities, (governmental) institutions and private parties.
By making these databases and information accessible worldwide and arousing interest in African Architecture by (for example) (re-)writing the history of African Architecture, launching a web site, assisting university courses, organizing and holding symposia and organising exhibitions.
By facilitating African architects and architectural institutions in the study, analysis and documentation of African Architecture, as well supporting them in developing and exhibiting their own work.
We will also attempt to introduce African architecture into the contemporary discussion and practice of western Architecture.
